M. J. Harris is excited to announce that we will be hosting a charity golf tournament on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Oxmoor Valley to benefit aTeam Ministries.
Founded in July 2009, aTeam Ministries is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to offering spiritual, emotional and financial support to children and their families within the pediatric cancer community.
Through the tireless efforts of aTeam Ministries, patient families are provided help and hope throughout the journey by the following programs:
Home Away From Home seeks to offer hospitality and comfort by providing practical necessities such as extended lodging in a private residence, meals and computers in the Birmingham, Alabama area at no charge to the families who frequently travel to Children’s Hospital of Alabama for their child’s treatments. Currently, rent and utilities for this private residence average approximately $24,000 per year.
Financial Grants are made available to families in critical financial need when faced with prolonged medical expenses. Throughout 2010 and 2011, aTeam Ministries has provided over $25,000 in grants to families in need.
Day At The Game provides an opportunity for patient families to attend an all-expenses-paid trip to regional sporting events and to meet and interact with coaches, players, mascots, and / or cheerleaders when possible. This brief reprieve from the difficult circumstances surrounding the pediatric cancer journey is very uplifting for both the child and his or her parents and siblings.
Champions of Chemo is an annual lake party that celebrates the completion of chemotherapy treatments.
Hope Lives On seeks to provide any assistance needed to parents and siblings as they journey through the grief of losing a child to pediatric cancer.
We hope you will join us by playing in the tournament or being a sponsor at the event. Sponsorships range from $250 to $5,000, and a portion is tax deductible. But more importantly, your generosity will provide aTeam Ministries with the financial ability to continue these programs – as well as many others – for children like Jacob (age 4, Leukemia), Hunter (age 9, Neuroblastoma), Mason (age 2, Wilm’s Tumor) and Emily (age 9, Leukemia and Bone Marrow Transplant).
We are honored to align ourselves with aTeam Ministries and the work that they do. We hope that you will partner with us to support aTeam Ministries’ mission of giving help and hope throughout the pediatric cancer journey.
