Jasper High School inspires students to achieve academic excellence through a hands-on educational approach. M. J. Harris handled the entirety of the general construction services for the new high school campus, greatly expanding learning opportunities for future generations. The new two-story building was anchored with shallow strip and spread footings on generous acres of flat land. The overall structure was designed with load-bearing masonry walls, and the second floor was comprised of hollow core concrete planks. Brick veneer was selected to adorn the envelope for a classic finish. Light gauge trusses with asphalt shingle roofing covered the classroom portion of the building while joist and metal deck with EPDM roofing covered the auditorium, cafeteria, and gyms. The robust HVAC system was contained in the upper level attic area away from view. For the safety and protection of students, M. J. Harris constructed two multi-purpose tornado shelters. The fortified spaces function as a band room and locker room on a day-to-day basis. Our team’s specialized, meticulous approach ensured the highest standards of excellence in every facet of construction. The ultimate goal was to create a long-lasting facility where young people could be equipped and empowered through education. And we accomplished it.

“We shape the future of learning with every school we build. When students come to our buildings, we want them to be inspired and encouraged to learn.”
